Mud-Muk
“Mud-Muk is a technique that incorporates the art of tying knots (‘Mud’ in Thai) as part of weaving traditional fabric from Haat Siew.
Used as part of weaving Haad Siew cloth. In order to have different shades of colour The pattern is designed to be round and intricate patterns similar to the Muk fabric (‘Muk’ in Thai) of Haat Siew. However, instead of the traditional beadwork, the weaving process involves the use of the ‘Yok Dok’/ Jacquard lifting technique. The resulting fabric is beautiful and unique, with uneven thread colours and distinctive intricate patterns, giving it the name ‘Mud-Muk.’ This project was a collaborative effort with Naresuan University in Phitsanulok Province.”
